Harare, Zimbabwe (Capital Markets in Africa):-The Zimbabwe Stock Exchange (ZSE) Industrial Index closed trading in the red zone again today continuing the losses made earlier in the week.
The ZSE Industrial Index was down by -0.38% another plunge of -0.56 points to end at 145.05 61 (-10.89% year-to-date and -20.99% year-on-year basis). The Mining Index however continued on its flat line recording no change in basis points (0.00% rise) to close once again on 40.94 points (keeping the year-to-date at -42.90% and year-on-year return at -38.46% respectively).
The market capitalization made a loss to end at US$ 3,807 down from US$3,821 billion recorded yesterday. The market activity was lower today with a turnover of US$ 1.060 million exchanged via 43 trade transactions.
Foreign Buys and Sales showed a different story as Foreign investors bought US$415,930 outweighing foreign sales which came to US$524,407 at the end of today’s trading sessions leaving sentiment bearish.
In terms of Volumes and value of trades, out of the 60 securities traded, the Retail Sector continued to dominate as FBC Holdings Limited recorded the highest volumes today trading 903,590 of it’s securities at US$7.00 per share to end with a value of US$63,251. Econet Wireless Zimbabwe Limited recorded 532,801 at US$33.01 to end up with a value of US$175,878. Likewise, Delta Corporation Limited registered 499,115 traded stocks at US$99.50 per share with a value of US$496,619 and Seed Co recorded 241,651 trades valued at US$248,852 priced at US$102.98 per share. Finally, TSL Limited moved 210,000 securities valued at US$37,200 with its share price at US$18.00.
In terms of market price gainers and losers, the market was level today as five securities ended in the green region and five ended in the red region. In the green zone were CBZ Holdings Ltd which increased by 0.50 points (+5.26%) to trade at US$10.00 cents and Seed Co Ltd advanced by 0.98 points (+0.96%) to close at US$102.98 cents. Padenga Holdings Ltd which increased by 0.07 point (+0.70%) to trade at US$10.07 cents and OK Zimbabwe Ltd advanced by 0.03 points (+0.49%) to close at US$8.20 cents.
On the Losers side, Starafricacorporation was down by -0.23 points (-18.69%) to end at US$1.00.
